The Leeds High School Music and Movement Program has a long and successful history of Superior Performances. We are competitive on a state, regional, national, and international level. Our program boasts over 13 major ensembles. Over 80% of our students receive training and performance opportunities in multiple performance idioms. Many of our students perform and compete simultaneously in instrumental, vocal, and movement areas. Here are some of our more recent accomplishments.

PRIDE OF THE GREEN WAVE MARCHING BAND

  • Featured Performance at Pearl Harbor

  • Alabama State Marching Band Championship Class 5A State Runner Up 

  • USBands Division IIA Southern States Champions

  • USBands Southern States Finalist- 11th Place- 89.96-VI Open

  • Second Place Class A Bands of America (BOA) Southeastern Regional

  • Competed in the BOA Atlanta Super Regional in the Georgia Dome

  • Best in Class Band Spain Park “Sparks in the Park” contest  

  • Best in Class Band Hoover Invitational Marching Festival

  • Best in Class Band and Captions Kennesaw Mountain Invitational, Kennesaw, GA

  • Performed in the Alabama Governor’s Inaugural Parade twice by invitation

  • Best in Class Music Performance and or Individual Music scores in 10 out of 12 USBands contests entered since 2009

  • All Superior Ratings at Mid-South Marching Festival

  • All Superior Ratings at Heart of Dixie Marching Festival

  • Superior rating Parade Band Southern Star Festival of Champions

  • Numerous Superior and Best in Class Awards at local Marching Contests

  • Birmingham Heart Walk Featured Band 

  • Featured on all major Birmingham Area T.V. stations as “Band of the Week” multiple times

  • Featured on Fox 6 T.V.’s “Lights of Honor” Veteran’s Day celebration, ABC 33/40 Football Kick-Off Show, and Raycom Media Half Time Show (They broadcast our show in its entirety!)

EMERALD GUARD, GREEN O’DEARS DANCELINE, AND MAJORETTES

  • Best in Class Visual Ensemble USSBA Division IIA Southern States Championships

  • Green O’Dears Danceline has received numerous Best in Class and High Score Awards as well as First Place and Gold Medal awards at Universal Dance Association and Nexstar Regional Events performing Kick, Hip-Hop, Mixed Classical, and  Jazz routines

  • First Place Music USA Festival Orlando, FLA

  • Combined Auxilliary units performed at Festival Disney 

  • Several UDA All-Americans

  • Majorettes have recieved all Superior Ratings in their storied history

EDUCATIONAL PROGRAM

  • Sponsored and Hosted Area Clinic with Dan Martin, 25 year Director of the Sprayberry High School Band of Gold, Voted one of America’s Top 20 Band Programs and Winners of over 275 Championship Awards

  • U.S. Marine Corps Band Excellence Award presented to band member Timothy Sligh.

  • Students are consistently selected to All-State, District, County, and University Honor Bands.

  • Recent Alumni and current members are performing with major collage and university programs as well as Drum Corps International and Drum Corps Associates programs.

  • Alumni have worked on staff with Blue Devils B and C Drum and Bugle Corps as well as Madison Scouts Drum and Bugle Corps.

  • Graduates of the program are offered collegiate scholarships in their performance area and many of them are offered scholarships in multiple musical disciplines.

  • Multiple Graduates are employed in the music and arts field.
